Description

Primary Objective:

 

Lead & manage the credit evaluations for Commercial and Islamic Bkg credit applications. Jointly approve credit applications within his/her delegated discretionary authority limits and recommend those beyond for higher level approving authorities. Manage renewal position of portfolio to ensure zero overdue reviews every quarter end e.g. Mar, Jun, Sep, Dec.

 

 

Manager a team of credit underwriters and ensure service standard on turnaround time for credit application processing are consistently met.


Key Responsibilities:

Evaluation

  • Supervise the independent evaluation of credit applications from Business Banking.
  • Ensure service standards on Turnaround time for credit application processing are consistently met.
  • Ensure credit quality stands up to approving authority expectations.
  • Be conversant with key industry trends and highlight any adverse market information for management attention.
  • Improve customer service satisfaction through joint customer visits with lending units for better evaluation of risk issues.

 

Approval within Discretionary Power

  • Approve credit applications within his/her delegated discretionary powers (DP).
  • The DP covers permanent and temporary facilities as well as ad-hoc and administrative requests from lending units including both local and overseas branches/centres.

 

Strategy and Planning

  • Relief other Heads in GWB CM, in his/her absence and manage a team of underwriters.
  • Provide input for review of existing workflows, procedures and processes with a view to improve service quality at reduced cost and increased revenue.
  • Undertake special functions as assigned by management to improve credit quality or enhance credit culture within the Banking group.

 

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Internal Credit Policy and Procedures, Statutory Guidelines (BNM/GP Guidelines, Exchange Control Regulations, Basel II requirements) and Legal Principles of Lending.

 

Training

Conduct visits to Commercial Banking Business Centers to bridge the expectation gap between the relationship managers and approving authorities.


Lead & manage senior credit managers covering the entire Commercial Banking Credit. 

Requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor Degree - Degree or Diploma.

- Preferably Credit Skills Assessment (CSA)/ Certified Credit Professional (CCP/CCP-i)/ Omega Programme, Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP).


Minimum 10 years banking experience with 5-7 years in Credit Evaluation as analyst or equivalent.  Sound knowledge of credit risks (Risk Financial Ratio Analysis).
