Description

  • Conduct detailed equity research in order to provide long-term investment and short-term trading ideas to institutional and regional retail clients.
  • Effectively support the group and country investment banking team’s efforts to generate revenue.

 


  • Meet requests from institutional equity sales teams and their clients, and provide strong research support to group wholesale banking and group investment banking revenue pillars.
  • Undertake and maintain research coverage on stocks and sectors, as assigned, which requires:
    • Active monitoring of the micro and macro factors affecting the stock(s) and sector(s).
    • Regularly visiting companies and organisations related to the sector(s).
    • Generate investment ideas on sectors/stocks including identifying sales/trading opportunities.
    • Write research reports on these investment ideas in a timely manner.
    • Consistently update clients on the latest development in the sector(s).
    • Assist in production/coordination of research publications and organisation of corporate-client engagement event (e.g. NDRs, conferences etc).
    • Meeting targets for the Equity Research team, e.g. internal client votes and external analyst polls.
  • Accompany a Head of Research or Head, Regional Sector in marketing roadshows and other client servicing efforts in the home country as well as overseas markets, as assigned. All Research Analysts are required to market their investment ideas to key institutional clients in Malaysia.
  • Research Analysts, subject to performance, may be given an enlarged role with additional responsibilities to:
    • Cover companies outside of the home country as part of a regional sector team.
    • Lead and manage a research project that includes other Research Analysts in the region.
  • All analysts must:
    • Display teamwork to achieve a coherent research product
    • Work closely with other Board Members and other senior management personnel at all times to develop RHB’s research product and brand
  • Ensure compliance of all legal and regulatory requirements to achieve a high standard of integrity for RHB’s research team and product

 

 

Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree: A Finance-related university degree is preferred.
  • MBA or CFA (preferred)
  • At least 3-4 years of research experience in an established financial institution
  • Strong ability to write and present fluently in English
  • Ability to use MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to use financial market databases
  • Industry experience would be an advantage
  • Licence from local securities regulatory authorities (e.g. licensed to undertake the required “Regulated Activities” under Financial Advisers Act, Singapore)
